Belinda在高中畢業後開始對龐克音樂產生興趣，經常出沒於洛杉磯龐克樂團演唱的地點，同時也開始擔任一些龐克樂團的主唱。在這段期間她結識了另一位後來成為The Go-Go’s台柱之一的Jane Wiedlin，兩人一拍即合，又找了其他幾位較有經驗的女子樂手組成The Go-Go’s。剛開始樂評們還譏諷這些娘子軍都是半調子的業餘歌手，沒想到這些小女生硬是以勤奮不懈地態度卯起來練，而且將曲風由龐克轉為以流行搖滾與新浪潮（New Wave）為主，不到一年的時間，The Go-Go’s的首張專輯「Beauty and the Beat」即攻佔冠軍寶座且蟬連六週之久，迅速走紅歌壇，其中兩首歌曲"We Got the Beat"和"Our Leaps are Sealed"都成為8０年代的流行經典作，。不過好景不常，部分團員因為承受不了成名所帶來的急遽壓力，出現了藥癮以及健康方面的問題，結果導致了The Go-Go’s的解散。
Belinda在樂團解散後繼續她的單飛之路，風光依舊，她的首張個人專輯在部分The Go-Go’s團員的助陣之下，獲得金唱片的銷售佳績，其中"Mad About You"亦獲全美季軍。第二張專輯「Heaven on Earth」更上一層樓地獲得白金唱片銷售紀錄，其中"Heaven is a Place on Earth"更一舉拿下英美雙料冠軍，"I Get Weak"和"Circle in the Sand"也都創下前十名的成績。(以上資料來自博客來音樂館)
