搖滾大團-Pink Floyd (平克 佛洛伊德)1965年由迷幻鬼才Syd Barrett作領導，建立了超群獨立的前衛迷幻風格，而後卻因太倚賴毒品被迫離開樂隊，由低音吉他手Roger Waters接捧。Roger在1965年至1983年期間，帶領樂團在實驗和摸索中逐步找到並形成自己獨特風格，從70年代初起的十年間推出了一系列令人難忘的代表作。當中的《Dark side of the Moon》、《Wish You Were Here》及《The Wall》最為人熟識，《Dark side of the Moon》在美國Billboard專輯榜上停留了14年之久，創下當代音樂史上空前的歷史紀錄。(以上資料來自博客來音樂館)

Pink Floyd一九七五年的 Wish You Were Here，是一張獻給前團長 Syd Barrett的作品。Syd Barrett原本是 Pink Floyd的團長兼主奏吉他手，七Ｏ年代初因為精神衰弱離開 Pink Floyd，錯過了這個樂團日後所有的飛黃騰達。離團後他發行了兩張個人專輯，洋溢著私密不祥的扭曲氣氛。一九七五年至今，他都再也沒有出現在眾人面前。
這首歌的吉他部份被譽為 David Gilmour最經典的表現之一，原作者 Roger Waters在一九八二年的訪問中表示：歌裡的「你」和「我」，其實也可以視為同一個人的分裂人格，一個好強、另一個頹敗。
